Many Native American tribes made dream catchers to sort dreams. Dream catchers were hung near the place where they slept.
They believed bad dreams, fears, and anxieties have jagged edges and were caught in the dream catcher's webbing. Good dreams and thoughts are smooth and passed through the center of the dream catcher.
When the first rays of daylight fell on the dream catcher, they cleansed it of the bad dreams and only the good thoughts and feelings remained.

In the dream catchers I make for family and friends I weave unique items of importance to the individual.

For example the dream catcher to the right I made for a friend in Arizona. He loves to dance, and cook and all the other things you can see in the photo. I believe gazing at it before sleep gives him better dreams.

Have you ever noticed the pattern in the webbing of a carefully made dream catcher? It reminds me of a ripe sunflower after all that remains are the seeds. That's why I chose the sunflower for the background for the dream catcher web pages.
